Electricity Prices are surveyed accross 5 bands of various annual consumption. This chart represents the lowest annual consumption (DA Band for Domestic & IA for Industrial) which is <1000 kWh in 1 year for domestic users and for industrial users represents <20 MWh. These prices are for the 2nd half of 2008 and are in Euro for KWH - Kilowatt/hour. They are much higher for Ireland because of high standing charges and high network charges.
Member States must report national prices to Eurostat that are representative for the whole country.
These national prices represent weighted average prices, using the market shares of electricity supply undertakings as weighted factors.
Arithmetic average price will be provided only when weighted figures cannot be calculated.
In either case, Member States must ensure that a representative share of the national market is covered by the survey.
The prices that are shown represent prices excluding VAT and other recoverable taxes.
Prices for large industrial end-users are not applicable for Luxembourg, and confidential for Ireland and Slovenia.
SEI publication about electricity and Gas prices in Ireland and Europe provides good information about costs associated with electricity.
