2008 saw a dramatic fall in property completions. Just over 50,000 properties were completed in 2008 and estimates for 2009 put the figure at 45,000 with Hooke and MacDonald estimating that 27,000 units will be completed in 2009 and it could go as low as 20,000 units in 2010. Estimations are continually going down with the property sector looking more bleak as the months go by.
